HISTORY

The Moonee Valley Football Club has enjoyed a long and distinguished history as a member of the Essendon District Football League. The club was founded in 1933, playing and winning their first match in April of that year.

The club fields many teams each weekends, from Under 8's thru to open age senior and reserve teams.

The senior side was particularly strong during the early 1950s, winning its only A Grade flag to date in 1952. It was also particularly successful throughout the 1990's.

After winning the B Grade premiership in 1994 the seniors acquitted themselves a position in the A Grade  and finished 4th in 1995.

One of the most noteworthy seasons in the Valley's history came in 1999 when the seniors won the B Grade premiership and held their own in A Grade for the next few seasons. In recent years the seniors have played in Division 2 were they have participated in finals the last 3 years.

CLUB RULES

The Moonee Valley football club understands it's responsibilities to all our players, supporters and parents. We will create an environment where all players will thrive and enjoy their sport. This will be achieved with positive input from all concerned and without an aggressive stance from parents, coaches and players.

The EDFL code of conduct provides an excellent overview of our behavioral expectations.  Please refer to the EDFL website should you wish to read their policy.

UMPIRES

We urge parents and players to show respect to all match day umpires. Umpires are naturally a crucial component of our game and aggression or abuse towards umpires will not be tolerated.  Please note that players at all levels may incur a club suspension for poor behaviour towards opposition players and umpires.

JUNIORS

A football club is not a child minding centre.  We expect all parents to help out but understand that parents have work commitments.  However, we would appreciate help from parents in some form as we are a non profit organsiation where many volunteers sacrifice their time and work commitments for the benefit of children.  Ultimately it's about choice !

All parents will be required to assist with match day responsibilities and fund raising activities when required by your team manager.

The club has appointed a number of dedicated coaches, please support them.  Finally, don't sit on the boundary, get involved.  Children love to see their parents show interest in their football prowess.

INJURED PLAYERS

All Club Trainers are qualified in administering first aid and must be allowed to treat injured players without interference from parents
